Production Update and New Photos
over 1 year ago – Sun, Sep 18, 2022 at 05:58:34 PM

Hello everyone! The last month has lead to some exciting progression and one sizable setback. Let's start with the good news.

The Pins Have Arrived

All the pins wrapped up production and arrived at the office ready to be forwarded on to you. They look AMAZING. The soft enamel turned out wonderful and we particularly like the look of the white edges on two of the pins. Here's some photos for your eyeballs.

The updated necklace has been approved

In other great news, we were sent the updated necklace and it's been approved. It's now in mass production, which we don't expect to take too long. Here's a pic of the approved acorn.

The books are starting production

Book printing is where we find our setback! Last month all the materials had been ordered and we expected to have all the books printed by now, but encountered an issue with the files while they were prepped for printing, which took a couple weeks to fix. It has now been fixed and we're starting production. If you want a little more background on the issue, read on!

Overprinting

The issue is the result of a problem called overprinting. When using large offset printers for mass production, colors are printed as a combination of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow. and Black (CMYK). There's always potential for early of the colors to be slightly misaligned during the printing phase, but it's very hard to notice—except on text.

When we originally prepped the text for printing, there were small things that make it for the text wasn't perfectly black. If the text isn't fully black, it will be printed as a collection of multiple colors, and overprinting can make it potentially harder to read.

Here's an extreme example of overprinting:

Long story short, it's been corrected and we've learned a valuable lesson about prepping our text for print. Oh, and we did ask why this mistake wasn't caught in sampling and were told it's because samples of digitally printed—and digital prints don't suffer from overprinting.

That's all for now! We'll update you again when the books wrap up printing.

Emora August Production Update
over 1 year ago – Sat, Aug 13, 2022 at 12:04:51 AM

Hello all!

We're getting close to the ship date and I appreciate everyone's patience. I'm so excited to get Book 1 out to you ASAP and hopefully it's worth the wait!

At the moment, I have a rough layout of Book 2 and 1/4 of the story inked and ready for color. Once Book 1 ships I will be dropping some fun illustrations to hint where the story is headed! Thanks again to all of you for supporting this. It means the world to me.

Here's an update on the status of production:

Books

We hit one last small snag in mid-July with the book print files—some of the text that was designated to be foiled was a little too small. The issue was quickly fixed and the final order for production has been placed! We've been told to expect printing to take 10-15 days once it starts, so these should still finish up and be shipped before the necklaces.

Necklace

As shared in the previous update, we had to make a new mold for the necklaces. The process of creating a new mold takes approximately 45 days and was started in mid-July, meaning we should have a new mold for mass-production around the end of August. Production doesn't take very long, so they should be created and shipped soon after the mold is created.

Pins

The pin packs all entered mass production in July, and should be finished any day now.

Stickers & Posters

The sticker packs and posters are already finished. Check out some new photos of the stickers below!

Progress and Timeline Update
almost 2 years ago – Wed, Jul 13, 2022 at 08:47:57 AM

Hello everyone! It’s been a little while since we shared an update, so we wanted to let you know where everything stands in production and share an updated timeline.

Production Progress

We’ve made amazing progress on almost all the rewards. The posters have already been printed, the stickers are made, and the pins are in production and should be finishing soon.

The books have made good progress, but we did see a couple setbacks. After receiving the final proof in late May, we made some updates to the foil cover and changes the material that we had selected for the cover of the hardcover book. These changes aren’t too big, but they’ve delayed production just a bit and we’re just now getting to the printing.

Finally, the necklace proof we received was a too large and making it smaller requires a new mold. Unfortunately, we’ve been told it takes 45 days to make the new mold. We’re pushing to see if it can be done faster, but this is currently the item that’s delaying the process the most.

Timeline Update

Our original goal was to ship in July, but due to the delays shared above we’re going to have to push that back a bit. There’s a chance we’ll be able to ship in August, but it’s also possible the necklace production could delay us a little bit longer.

We’ll share another update in early August when we should have a much clearer idea of when everything is going to be ready for shupping.

As always, thanks for you support in bringing Emora to life and we’re working hard to get it to you as soon as possible!

The Pledge Manager is Going Live
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 10, 2022 at 09:52:23 PM

Hey Everyone! Thanks for your patience as we worked through getting the final touches on the pledge manager setup. You should start receiving invites to finalize your pledge in Backerkit starting today.

What is a pledge manager?

If you've never used a pledge manager before, you're probably asking this question! A pledge manager is a piece of software that makes managing shipping addresses, paying for shipping, and adding additional items to your pledge really easy.

We're using a system called Backerkit. Backerkit will send an email to the address you use on Kickstarter asking you to complete your pledge.

The system will walk you through adding your shipping address, calculating shipping costs, and paying for your shipping.

If you have any questions, you can email us at [email protected] or just leave a comment on this update. If you haven't received an email from Backerkit by the end of the week, check your spam folder and then get in contact with us.

Production Progress

  • We just received samples of the final books from our printer. We'll be reviewing these and requesting changes for final printing very soon!
  • The necklace is currently in the sample making process and we'll have a sample to review later this month.
  • Stickers and pins have been ordered and should be arriving shortly, then waiting for everything else to arrive.
